CREATION II: COMPARISON IN SACRED TEXTS

Lets look at the Holy Veda's 'Hymn of Creation' in drawing comparison to the opening of the Holy Bible / Holy Torah, the start of the 'Story of Creation' and linking to a single verse of the Holy Qur'an describing creation of man.

THE HOLY VEDAS RIG VEDA The Nāsadīya Sūkta (Not the Non-Existent) The Hymn of Creation (10:129) Mandala 10, Hymn 129 1. THEN was not non-existent nor existent: there was no realm of air, no sky beyond it. What covered in, and where? and what gave shelter? Was water there, unfathomed depth of water? 2. Death was not then, nor was there aught immortal: no sign was there, the day's and night's divider. That One Thing, breathless, breathed by its own nature: apart from it was nothing whatsoever. 3. Darkness there was: at first concealed in darkness this All was indiscriminate chaos. All that existed then was void and formless: by the great power of Warmth was born that Unit. 4. Thereafter rose Desire in the beginning, Desire, the primal seed and germ of Spirit. Sages who searched with their heart's thought discovered the existent's kinship in the non-existent. 5. Transversely was their severing line extended: what was above it then, and what below it? There were begetters, there were mighty forces, free action here and energy up yonder 6. Who verily knows and who can here declare it, whence it was born and whence comes this creation? The Gods are later than this world's production. Who knows then whence it first came into being? 7. He, the first origin of this creation, whether he formed it all or did not form it, Whose eye controls this world in highest heaven, he verily knows it, or perhaps he knows not.

THE HOLY BIBLE / THE HOLY TORAH The Story of Creation Genesis 1:1-5 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

THE HOLY QUR'AN The Throngs [39:6] - 6 He created you all from a single being, from which He made its mate; He gave you four kinds of livestock in pairs; He creates you in your mothers’ wombs, in one stage after another, in threefold depths of darkness. Such is God, your Lord; He holds control, there is no god but Him. How can you turn away? ________________________________________

DRAWING COMPARISON IN CREATION The 'Hymn of creation' contains seven lines of verse whereas 'The Story of Creation' on the first day, there are seven stages from the opening and the creation of heaven and earth. Contained in the second verse are the four curses of the Torah. The following three verses indicate threefold depths of darkness as mentioned in the Qur'an also depicting seven lots. Drawn are the four curses of the Torah; blindness, stoning, sword & drowning / strangulation of 4 Elements; fire, earth, air & water; in pairs as mentioned by the Qur'an verse "four kinds of livestock in pairs" (similar to two pairs of Cherubim or two olive trees & two lamp-stands). Both the Rig Veda and the Bible / Torah mention: darkness, formlessness, void, deep waters and Spirit. The cosmic dualism referring to counterpart, as related to heaven and earth; yin and yang, is clear at the start of all three scripture quotes. The concept of creation being One at the beginning is also indicated.
